Ingredients

  • PAM® Baking Spray

  • 1 pkg (15.25 oz each) Duncan Hines® Dolly Parton’s Yellow Cake Mix

  • 1 cup reduced fat (2%) milk

  • 4 eggs

  • 1/2 cup butter

  • 1 container (16 oz each) Duncan Hines® Dolly Parton's Buttercream Frosting

  • 1/2 cup thinly sliced fresh strawberries

  • 3/4 cup heavy (whipping) cream

  • 1 cup halved fresh strawberries, for decoration

Directions

  • Step one

    Preheat oven to 350°F. Spray bottom and sides of two 8-inch round pans with baking spray.

  • Step two

    Whisk cake mix, milk, eggs, and melted butter together in a large bowl until well blended, about 1 minute. Pour into pans.

  • Step three

    Bake on rack in center of oven 24 to 28 minutes, until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool cakes in pan on wire rack 15 minutes. Remove cakes from pan and cool completely before frosting.

  • Step four

    Pour heavy cream into large bowl and beat with an electric mixer on high speed until stiff peaks form, about 2 minutes. Scoop 2 tablespoons buttercream frosting into bowl of whipped cream and beat on low just until blended.

  • Step five

    Place one cooled cake layer on serving plate. Spread a thin layer of buttercream frosting over and top with thinly sliced strawberries. Place second cake layer on top of first. Frost entire cake with remaining buttercream frosting. Spread whipped cream on top of cake and decorate with halved strawberries. Slice, serve, and enjoy the perfect strawberry cream cake!
